The Pulse: Read the Coverage Before You Read the Move

Three of five tracked TCG samples meet TrendApe's consistent-read rule, down from four. The useful question is not whether a headline looks exciting; it is what the tracked coverage can and cannot support.

Source window: W31 compared with W32 · Latest points: July 20 and July 27, 2026

A percentage can look decisive before you know how much of the tracked sample it represents.

The point is context, not urgency.

Usable means a record has a one-month change available to classify; it does not mean the record represents every version, condition, listing, or collector decision around a card. Missing observations are not counted as either direction.

Within the usable records: 584 positive, 409 negative, and 3 unchanged.

Neutral rule transition

4 qualifying samples in 2026-W313 in 2026-W32

At least 60% positive usable observations and a positive middle one-month result.

One fewer tracked TCG sample met a defined rule this week. It does not convert a category average into an answer about a card in a binder, nor does it turn one card's result into an explanation for the wider sample.

The W31 and W32 windows overlap, so the comparison reads a changing weekly picture rather than two separate tests. W31 had 997 tracked observations and 993 usable changes; W32 has 998 and 996. That small shift in coverage is part of the limit, not a defect to ignore.

That record is a card-level observation, not evidence for why Pokemon's wider 129-of-200 positive read exists.

Five samples, five different limits

Pokemon

A positive sample is not a card verdict

Pokemon has 129 positive observations out of 200, or 64.50%, with a +8.61% middle one-month result. That is more positive than negative inside the tracked sample, while 71 observations are not positive.

One Piece

Close, not crowned

One Piece has 130 positive observations out of 199, or 65.33%, with one missing usable change and a +14.05% middle result. It sits only 1.69 percentage points from the other two qualifying samples, so the available read is a close group rather than a category verdict.

Magic

Two measures can disagree

Magic has 126 positive observations out of 198, or 63.64%, down from 65.48% in W31; its middle result rose from +5.99% to +6.64%. The share moving up became smaller while the middle observed change increased, so the board does not support one simple direction.

Lorcana

Narrower coverage, not one outcome

Lorcana moved from 64.47% to 57.79% positive usable observations, or 115 of 199, with one missing change and a +7.14% middle result. It no longer clears the rule's 60% portion, but 115 tracked observations are still positive and 84 are negative.

Yu-Gi-Oh

Improvement leaves a question open

Yu-Gi-Oh moved from 39.50% to 42.00% positive observations, or 84 of 200; 116 are negative and the middle result remains -3.56%. The positive share improved, but the current sample remains mixed.

What the evidence supports

  • The broader positive pattern narrowed from four qualifying samples to three.
  • Pokemon, One Piece, and Magic remain close within the qualifying group.
  • Coverage and missingness make a percentage easier to interpret.

What it does not support

  • A cause, collector motive, demand story, or manipulation claim.
  • Total market activity, every listing, or every card in a category.
  • Durability, a price target, or an action conclusion for any individual card.

Rolling-window and method limits

  • W31 and W32 overlap, so this is a rolling comparison rather than two independent periods.
  • The tracked universe changed from 997 observations with 993 usable changes to 998 with 996.
  • Shares use usable one-month changes within each TCG; percentage-point differences are calculated from unrounded shares before display.
  • This is market context for collectors, not investment advice.
